Psycho Rricky
The Original Psycho Dawg
The dog, the myth, the legend; the dog that started it all— Rricky! Rricky taught me more than I could ever teach him. Upon meeting him, it was easy to see what an incredibly strong, agile, and clever dog he was. However, he had also developed quite a reputation for being... difficult.
Rricky had bitten four people and sent one of them to the hospital. Rricky was then sent to my kennel as a last resort. As a team, we spent hours getting to know him to see where the issues were and start at the root of his biting problem. We knew that he had all the potential in the world but all anyone could see where his flaws were. However, with a little bit of guidance, patience, and love, Rricky went on to have a successful career as a military working dog until his retirement in 2020.
Rricky passed away in December of 2023 but made an impact on many people's lives. He will forever remain in my mind and Psycho Rricky the dog that got me into the rabbit hole of dog training and helping any dog I meet.

Maya
The Spunky Ambassador
Maya may not have a military background or any working class pedigree, but that didn't stop her from being an absolute menace to society from the jump! She came from a long line of feisty matriarchs whose favorite past times included terrorizing neighborhood livestock, being on a first name basis with local animal patrol, etc.
I guess it should have come to no surprise when she started eating the walls of my apartment & dragging me down SEVERAL flights of stairs.
It wasn't long before I realized she was not for the faint of heart. She tested my patience on a daily basis & had many people questioning why I had chosen such a "difficult" dog, but all I could see was her potential. I remember thinking, "damn this kid has a lot of SPUNK, I love that!"
From then on, she has challenged me to rise to the occasion & consistently work on bettering myself just so that I can keep up with her.

Robert Carbajal
I began my journey when I joined the U.S. Navy in 2016 and realized I had finally found my true passion in life —working with dogs. After seeing the high capabilities of these dogs in the K9 unit, I knew that this was what I wanted to do and couldn't imagine doing anything else. From that moment on, I dedicated my life to honing my craft & be the best possible dog handler.
While enlisted, I learned explosive & narcotic detection, bite work/personal protection work, and obedience. After getting honorably discharged in 2020, I sought out seasoned mentors and educators in order to expand my knowledge. There hasn't been a day since 2016 that I have not researched the topic of dog training, psychology, behavior, history, and nutrition. The world of dog training is ever-evolving, so I have and will continue to make every effort to pursue educational opportunities and seminars to expand my knowledge and skill set.

Jhoss Ramirez
Animals have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up, my family always had dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, and more. Being surrounded by animals naturally led me to develop a deep love for them, and by high school, I knew I wanted to make a difference. I spent several years volunteering at East Valley Animal Shelter, in Van Nuys, CA where I saw firsthand how many misunderstood dogs were given up simply because their owners didn’t know how to work with them.
Although my career path initially took me in a different direction—earning my B.A. in Political Science & English Literature, followed by my law degree (J.D.) — I never lost my passion for helping animals. The desire to work with dogs, especially those labeled as "too much" or "aggressive," never faded.
In 2023, Robert and I decided to fully commit to this passion. We founded Psycho Dawg Training and Consultations, dedicated to helping owners understand and work through their dogs' challenges. We know that some dogs need time, patience, and the right approach to thrive. Our mission is to build a community where owners feel empowered and their "little psychos" become the best versions of themselves.
